In December 2007 the Tourist Information Centre in Linlithgow’s Burgh Halls reopened its doors as a Visitor Awareness Centre.
With the Tourist Information Centre closed for the winter and the redevelopment of the Burgh Halls scheduled to get underway in the summer of 2008, a number of groups came together to explore the benefits of an off-season visitor information and accommodation service to Linlithgow and the rest of West Lothian.
The Linlithgow Visitor Awareness Centre was operated on a limited hours basis by volunteers from 10am to 3pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with themed weeks focusing on particular aspects of what Linlithgow has to offer.
The JoLoMo painting "Winter Falls on Linlithgow Palace" was put on display in the VAC.
The VAC is still in use for meetings but the visitors requiring information can now get it from the Council Information Service facility in the County Buildings, opposite the Cross.
