This popular annual event ends with a torchlight procession along Linlithgow High Street.10.00am
The day starts with the formal opening by the Winchburgh Gala Queen at The Cross, led by solo piper.
10.30am -4.00pm Arts and Craft Fair
Due to the refurbishment of the Burgh Halls the fair will be held in St Michael’s Church Hall, Cross House, and the Masonic Hall off Market Street. Both halls are situated either side of the Burgh Halls.
In the vicinity of The Cross there is also a Street Fair; stalls provided for this event are offered free to local voluntary and charitable organizations.
Throughout the day you can meet Santa on his sleigh pulled by Harley Davidson motorbikes on the High Street, in Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Aldi car parks, raising funds for the Linlithgow Young People’s Project (LYPP) and St. Michael’s Day Care Centre. There will also be music and family entertainment along the High Street.
4.30pm Distribution of torches at Low Port primary school
5.00pm Grand Torchlight Procession
from Low Port along the historic High Street to the West Port, returning to The Cross
5.30pm Short Carol Service
before Linlithgow and Linlithgow Bridge Gala Queen switches on the town’s Christmas tree lights.
Prior to the carol service presentations will be made to the winning entries of the Shop Window Display competition and the primary school Design-a-Light competition organized by the Community Council. The winning Design-a-Light entries are manufactured and erected on lighting columns as part of the town centre Christmas illuminations by West Lothian Council
The refurbishment of the Burgh Halls will be completed in March 2010 and the Arts and Craft Fair will return to this popular venue
